Rains in India create false alarm for cumin seed crop

RECENT rains in India were seized on by some as an opportunity to try and push the cumin seed market higher on concerns that the current crop might be adversely affected, but the return of drier weather has calmed the situation. Indian bold cumin seed of packing quality - 99.9% purity - had eased to around $2,950 to $2,975 a tonne from a previous range of $3,050 to $3,075 a tonne.
